Yuet-ying (Jacqueline Wong) is a maid in the Vice Minister of War Kau Residence. She is also the leader of six groups of maids, who have formed an intelligence sharing alliance to make money. Yuet-gau (Roxanne Tong) has sold herself and become a maid as she is raising money for her beloved Fu Yau-wai (Brian Tse) to go to the capital to take the imperial exam. Yuet-ying and Yuet-gau are taking care of Madam Koon Chi-pui (Florence Kwok) and Madam Sheungkoon Wan-ying (Angie Cheong) respectively. The duo keep trying to outwit each other for the sake of their bosses. Kau Kei-tsun (Tony Hung), aka Young Master, and Yuet-ying become lovers. Regrettably, Kei-tsun’s father Kau Ching (Timothy Cheng) makes Kei-tsun’s life difficult. Kau Ching is demoted as he has committed some offense. Kei-tsun diligently prepares to tackle the imperial exam as he wants to restore family honor. Fok Yin-jing (Lisa Lau), the daughter of Minister of War Fok Bun (Poon Chi Man), also fancies Yau-wai and repeatedly seduces him. Yuet-ying and Yuet-gau are determined to jeopardize their lovers’ study efforts as they are afraid of being ditched if their guys pass the imperial exam with flying colors. While both couples are about to break up, they are abruptly drawn into a coup conspiracy.
Jiang Zi Dan, a Chinese police officer, is sent to Hong Kong to go undercover as a triad member. The same triad sends Wei Jun Xuan as an informant into the police force, to finish what his predecessor had failed to do.
