Tea merchant To Chung-yuen (Wang Shi Huai) is the owner of Sun Cheung Ho Tea Plantation in Yunnan that has been passed down through generations. His eldest and second sons, To Yu-shu and To Yu-lau (Kevin Cheng), follow in his footsteps and join the family business. Yu-shu dies suddenly in Shanghai. Chung-yuen loses a son in his twilight years. He falls ill and becomes bedridden. Yu-lau has to manage Sun Cheung Ho all by himself. Soon after, Yu-lau is accused of killing his big brother because he wants to take over the family business. For the sake of Sun Cheung Ho, Yu-lau keeps sticking to his principles. Although he is under immense pressure and has no one to turn to, he is determined to do whatever he can to carry on. Yu-lau encounters Ha Fong-sum (Xu Xi Yan), who has to rely on her uncle’s help. They fall in love and get married. Meanwhile, Fong-sum becomes embroiled in the Tos’ feud over family wealth. She gradually finds out Yu-lau is hiding some big secret. Fong-sum is exhausted from groundlessly suspecting her husband. Someone with an ulterior motive eventually incites her to accuse Yu-lau of killing his big brother.
