It’s a story about Ok-nyeo, a talented girl born and raised in prison but gains great skill and wisdom through her encounters with extraordinary people from all walks of life. She becomes a crusader for the oppressed peasant class and embarks on a journey to find the class she belongs to in the caste system. Through the life of Ok-nyeo, this TV miniseries introduces Joseon’s proud legacy of human rights laws, which Ok-nyeo fights to enact throughout the kingdom.
典獄署是朝鮮時代的教導所、看管囚犯的地方。天才少女玉儿在典獄署中出生、長大。在典獄署裡，玉儿接觸到世間各種奇人異士，通過他們學到很多經驗與才能。玉儿遭受文定皇后、鄭蘭貞、尹元衡等人糾纏與陷害，雖然不斷受挫，但是在土亭李之菡、俠盜林巨正、名妓黃真伊、道士田禹治、醫女大長今等傳奇人士的幫助下，玉儿成為了具有卓越能力的女人。從此，玉儿為含冤的百姓伸張正義並追查自己的真實身份。
