Urban legend, somehow evident, somehow verisimilar, threads together the past and future. Conducting research at Bride’s Pool, Professor of folkloristics POON DOR-LAI (Lam Ha Mei) has what appears to be paranormal encounters, but soon uncovers criminal exploits behind it. She teams up with journalist FU CHI-POK (Edwin Siu) to probe into the matter, unravelling the unknown background of bride-to-be WONG YUK (Topaz) (Moon Lau). DOR-LAI’s teacher has disappeared for seven years, and it turns out that CHI-POK is his son. The two decide to continue his unfinished paper “Hong Kong Urban Legend”. In the process, they discover many cases that bear coincidental similarity to legend, realizing his disappearance is very suspicious. During the investigation, DOR-LAI and CHI-POK get to know police officer YIK MING-YIN (Cheung Wing Hong), whose family turn out to be the protagonist in the story “Fox Demon killing infants”. With DOR-LAI being asked to investigate what happened years ago, a clue instead leads her to the pawnshop run by her mother! During EMPEROR RENZONG ’s reign in the Song Dynasty, Bao Zheng (Shaun Tam) is appointed Kaifeng Prefecture Prefect. Bao Zheng, his trusted aide Gongsun Ce (Raymond Cho), Guard Zhan Zhao and the Four Constables are determined to crack down on corrupt dealings. Merchant’s daughter Yun Qianyu (Nancy Wu) is an eloquent speaker. Under Gongsun Ce’s guidance, she eventually becomes a counsel. Ji Niannian (Elaine Yiu), a maid from Gaochang, is an autopsy expert. Grand Tutor Pang (Li Shing Cheong) is a bully, who repeatedly frames Bao Zheng. Bao Zheng and Niannian get along very well. Love gradually grows between them. But when he finds out her true identity, he senses some hidden disaster is looming. Qianyu’s father Yun Zhongliu has some strange ambition as he points out the emperor’s heritage is questionable. Siu Wai-ming (Joel Chan) becomes a security guard at Twilight Mansion, a run-down place where dodgy characters roam around. He encounters an occupant by the name of Alex (Selena Lee), who is an air hostess and a dead ringer for some qipao clad woman that keeps clinging to him in his dreams. Siu gets closer to Alex and finds out they are somehow interrelated. Meanwhile, strange things keep happening at Twilight Mansion as life experiences and curious stories of other occupants take center stage. Siu shockingly finds out Alex is a mirage! Welcome to the 1960s and Coco (Selena Lee) is a hostess at Twilight Ballroom. She dreams of becoming an air hostess someday. She falls in love with Lau Yuk-fai (Joel Chan), who is a policeman and a dead ringer for some guy in her dream. Her fantastic dream is even adapted as a novel by bookstore owner Lam Yeuk-sze (Bob Cheung). Siu accidentally finds this novel from yesteryear as he just has to get to the bottom of the mystery. Siu is aghast when he finds out he and Alex had been destined to get intertwined in some previous life.

Retired school principal Pak Tsin-ngam (Chung King Fai) has somehow returned to Hong Kong from Canada. He goes to the familiar location of Lower Ngau Tau Kok Estate, which has been redeveloped, to look for certain sopranos whose voices keep resonating in his head. Pak Suet-yee (Jacqueline Wong), his granddaughter and reclusive illustrator, promises him she is going to find those alumni who were members of St John Primary School Choir more than forty years ago. Luk Kui-nam (Nam) (Owen Cheung), detective agency employee and Suet-yee’s buddy-cum-fake husband, offers his help to divorcee Suet-yee. Alumni Tai Chin-leong  (Forte)(Hugo Ng) and Kam Ching-yee (Mimi Kung) and her husband are also willing to help. They eventually manage to find other members, namely, Chan Lee-cheung (Wong Ho) (Ram Chiang), Yau Chi-hung (Wanderer) (Joe Cheng), Shiu Wai-chiu (Chiu) (Sam Tsang), Yau Tak-kwong (Brother Blue) (Willie Wai), Luk Tung (Au Siu Wai) and Ng Kwok-leung (Dark) (Tsang Wai Kuen). They also complete the original lineup by finding music teacher Lui Choi-kam (Lo Koon Lan). It is a choir reunion. However, challenging life experiences have transformed the guys into pathetic middle-aged men. During the search for the sopranos, subtle changes occur in Suet-yee and Kui-nam’s relationship. The old guys are eventually revitalized. They are going to be in the spotlight by taking center stage again!

從加國偶然返港的退休校長白千巖(鍾景輝飾)，為了尋找一把腦海中浮現的女高音，重返已被清拆及重建的牛頭角下邨。孫女兼宅女插畫家白雪兒(黃心穎飾)答應為他尋回四十多年前聖若望小學合唱團的舊生。失婚的雪兒在任職偵探社好友兼「假丈夫」陸居男(Nam)(張振朗飾)，以及舊生戴展亮(大爆)(吳岱融飾)、甘靜怡(龔慈恩飾)夫婦幫助下，終把其他成員陳理璋(黃河)(蔣志光飾)、游志雄(遊子)(鄭敬基飾)、邵偉朝(阿蕉)(曾航生飾)、邱德光(憂鬱哥)(韋家雄飾)、陸同(歐瑞偉飾)、吳國亮(黑仔)(曾偉權飾)，還有昔日音樂老師呂彩琴(羅冠蘭飾)召集回來，重組合唱團。可是幾位受盡社會歷練的中佬，已變成一條條對生命失去期盼的老油條！在尋找女高音的過程中，雪兒與居男萌生微妙感情，中佬們也尋回對生命的熱情，重新站在台上發亮發光！

Gossip magazine journalist Tong Leung-sing (Sammy) has unfortunately lost his left ear in a traffic accident. He gains mystical rat power after undergoing transplant surgery. Leung-sing keeps creating fake news just to benefit himself. He clashes with righteous policewoman Sung Hoi-yan (Priscilla Wong), causing both of them to lose their jobs. With the support of her uncle Ming Kwan-ngai (KK Cheung), Hoi-yan becomes a private investigator. Leung-sing is forced to help Hoi-yan with her investigation activities as Hoi-yan catches him using his mystical power to peep at goddess Ming Cheuk-kei (Zoie Tam). Gold digger Tong Mei-fun (Kamen Kong) is cruelly harassed as rich clan heir Tsui Tsun-wai (Daniel Chau) and she become foes. Mei-fun forgives Tsun-wai and offers to help him as Tsun-wai gets into a difficult situation. Leung-sing becomes increasingly arrogant as he uses to his mystical power to solve cases. Meanwhile, Hoi-yan shockingly finds out Kwan-ngai’s real character. The Hong Kong economy is booming in the 1970s and the stock market is a battlefield where greed is rampant. Because of his father’s misfortune, the way Wing Muk-tung (Eddie Cheung), who is Chinese Thai, sees life is turned upside down. He flees Thailand and reaches Hong Kong. He aspires to be master of the financial game as he gains insights into the power of the stock market.
